Bad Faith — Movie Showing

Hosted by Two Harbors Breakwall

When:
Wed, Aug 6, 6:00—8:30pm
Where:
Two Harbors High School auditorium
1640 County Hwy 2
Two Harbors, MN

Join us for a special screening of Bad Faith at the Two Harbors High School auditorium!

Bad Faith is a powerful documentary that examines how religious extremism and political manipulation can erode democracy and divide communities. Through moving personal stories and thoughtful reporting, the film invites us to reflect on the role of faith in public life and to consider how we can build a more compassionate, just society.

After the film, we’ll have a short discussion with local pastors to share reactions and explore how these themes show up in our own community.

Come connect, reflect, and be part of the conversation — we hope to see you there!

Join us with your signs and your presence! Bring friends!

Good Trouble Lives On

In Ely & Virginia

Virginia

When:
July 17, 3:00–5:00pm
Where:
Hwy 53 and 12th Ave

Ely

When:
July 17, 5:00–7:00pm
Where:
Whiteside Park

Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration and to remind them that in America, the power lies with the people.

John Lewis served in the House of Representatives for 33 years, and his life work was an ongoing invitation to others to build a better, just world that values the dignity and the worth of every human being. He urged people to “Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and redeem the soul of America.”

On July 17, the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing, we’re taking action across the country to carry forward his legacy of Good Trouble and defend our democracy.

From voter suppression bills like the SAVE Act to the criminalization of protest, the Trump administration is launching a full-scale attack on our civil and human rights. But we know the truth: in America, the power lies with the people, and we’re rising to prove it.

The Virginia event is sponsored by Northern Progressives, Democracy in Action on the Iron Range (DAIR), Indivisible, ACLU, MobilizeUSA and other groups.

In Ely, come add your voice in Whiteside Park. Bring signs or make one there. After demonstrating on Sheridan Avenue, we’ll take time to get to know new friends, talk about issues you’re concerned about, and get a bite to eat. You can bring a picnic dinner, get food from a food truck, or head to a local restaurant. Get ideas about how you can cause some Good Trouble.

Please note: A core principle behind our Good Trouble Lives On actions is a commitment to nonviolence in all we do. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Hermantown — Grow a Spine, Stauber Rally

When:
July 12, 11:00am–12:30pm
Where:
Stauber's Hermantown Office
5094 Miller Trunk Hwy 900
Hermantown, MN 55811

It's time for Congressman Pete Stauber to grow a spine—or step aside.

Pete Stauber has consistently aligned himself with Trump, supporting extreme policies that harm Minnesota families. He remained virtually silent as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) dismantled USAID and imposed draconian funding cuts to education, healthcare, scientific research, Medicaid, food for children, and more. He has endorsed harsh immigration crackdowns that separate families and deny them due process and basic human compassion. He is a threat to Medicare, Social Security, and veteran's benefits. He has attacked reproductive rights, undermined environmental protections, and repeatedly refused to meet face-to-face with the constituents he was elected to serve.

For Hermantown, we will be gathering at his office located at 5094 Miller Trunk Hwy 900.

Tell MPCA to Enforce Minnesota’s Wild Rice Sulfate Standard

Not again! The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is now proposing a “multi-discharger variance” so that polluters won’t have to comply with the wild rice sulfate standard or meet the burdens of proof in existing case-by-case law.

MPCA is holding an “informational” Webex next week for “early public engagement.” Please join and give them a piece of your mind.

Rally in Support of Federal Workers

Let's celebrate International Workers Day by demonstrating that the mantra "an injury to one is an injury to all" still has meaning! Join us for a rally in support of federal workers, whose jobs are under attack by the current administration. We'll be holding signs during rush hour traffic, and circulating a petition in support of these workers. Feel free to make and bring your own sign, though we'll also have extras on hand. At this time there isn't a program planned for this event, but there will be a bullhorn on hand for anyone who wants to speak.

This event is being organized by the Northwoods Socialist Collective.

When:
Thursday, May 1 5:00-5:45PM
Where:
515 W 1st St

May Day 2025 we are standing united. We're organizing for a world where every family has housing, healthcare, fair wages, union protection, and safety—regardless of race, zip code, or immigration status.

STOP THE BILLIONAIRE TAKEOVER. WE ARE THE MANY. THEY ARE THE FEW. THIS IS MAY DAY. JOIN US.

Please note: a core principle behind our May Day actions is a commitment to nonviolence in all we do. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. Follow all laws: Use crosswalks, do not block traffic, stay off streets, do not block sidewalks.
